The release of Tanner Foust's break through street drift video. Tanner Foust ups the ante by taking his car control skills to the street. Like tarmac rally, in a drift car, Tanner takes the Rockstar Energy Drink Scion TC Drift Car on a legendary stretch of Mulholland Highway known as "The Snake". This is no 400hp all-wheel-drive rally car though. This is pure rear-wheel drive unleashing 600hp from a Toyota NASCAR V8 powered Scion drift car.
This was a properly controlled set with all the safety precautions taken in a Hollywood movie" said Foust. "I do this for a living - please don't try this at home." The road was closed, but surprisingly, (like rally) there were no rehearsals [err... except Tanner driving this road for years in his own cars...]. As Vince from the Sham-Wow commercial would say, "Look out camera guy" at 1:30 and 2:48 - it's pucker time.
Last thing: note one thing that we haven't seen before in any recent car video. There is no rubber on the road before the run, and just two fat streaks after Tanner passes - bad ass.
The short film is the first project for production company Media SFG, a collaboration between director Ryan Senter and Foust. "We wanted to create something authentic," said Foust. "I finally got to close down one of my favorite roads and unleash the Rockstar Scion Drift car on it! said Foust. Senter is the creative visionary responsible for Ken Block's wildly popular U.S. Top Gear segment. "There's a long history of cult car videos and we're adding one to the list," said Senter. "There will be more," said Senter. "Watch this space."
